How to Check Watch Time on TikTok (Step by Step)

6 min read · Brainrot Test

To check watch time on TikTok, go to your Profile, tap the menu (☰), then Settings and privacy → Time and wellbeing (older versions call it Screen time) and open the screen time dashboard. It shows your daily time on TikTok, how often you opened it, and how your day and night use split. Your phone's own Screen Time (iPhone) or Digital Wellbeing (Android) shows the same total from the outside.

Seeing "3h 41m" is a jumpscare, but the number alone won't tell you how hooked you actually are. Brainrot Test does that part in 17 questions: Check my brainrot.

Where TikTok shows your watch time

TikTok keeps two different things in two different places, and people mix them up all the time:

What you want Where it lives What it shows
Total watch time (hours) Settings and privacy → Time and wellbeing → Screen time dashboard Daily time, weekly totals, number of opens, day vs night use
Watch history (which videos) Settings and privacy → Activity center → Watch history The videos you've watched recently
Phone-level time iPhone Screen Time / Android Digital Wellbeing Time in the TikTok app, pickups, notifications

Quick heads-up: TikTok renames menus pretty often. If a label below doesn't match your screen exactly, look for the closest thing (and use the search bar at the top of Settings, if your version has one).

Step by step: how to see your watch time on TikTok

On iPhone

  1. Open TikTok and tap Profile (bottom right).
  2. Tap the ☰ menu (top right).
  3. Tap Settings and privacy.
  4. Tap Time and wellbeing (or Screen time on older versions).
  5. Tap Screen time dashboard.
  6. Switch between daily and weekly views to see your TikTok total watch time.

On Android

The steps are the same inside the app: Profile → ☰ → Settings and privacy → Time and wellbeing → Screen time dashboard. Android sometimes shows the menu icon as three lines or three dots, depending on your version.

Double-check it with your phone

TikTok's own number is good, but your phone doesn't care about TikTok's feelings.

If you want your all-time hours, there isn't a lifetime counter. The easiest way to estimate how to check your total hours on TikTok is: weekly total × 52. Do that math once and you'll understand why people call it a time vortex.

How to check watch history on TikTok

Watch history is where you find that one video you scrolled past and now can't stop thinking about.

  1. Go to Profile → ☰ → Settings and privacy.
  2. Tap Activity center.
  3. Tap Watch history.
  4. Scroll through what you've watched recently, or use the search inside it if you remember a word from the caption.

How to see previously watched TikToks when history is empty

If your watch history isn't showing:

Recently watched hack: if the video was very recent, check Liked or Favorites tabs on your profile, and your Inbox if someone sent it to you. Half the time that's where it is.

What your TikTok number means

So you found it. Now what? Here's a rough way to read your daily TikTok average watch time. These aren't medical rules, just a vibe check:

Look at the pattern, not just the total

The dashboard's day vs night split and number of opens are the sneaky important parts:

This is the hard bit: your minutes don't say why you open the app, and judging your own habits is basically impossible when you're the one doing them. Brainrot Test asks 17 questions about what you really do when you pick up your phone, scores you from 0 to 100, and shows how you compare with everyone else. Check my brainrot

Set a daily limit on TikTok

Once you know your number, give it a ceiling.

Inside TikTok

  1. Go to Settings and privacy → Time and wellbeing.
  2. Tap Daily screen time.
  3. Pick a limit (or set a custom one) and a passcode.
  4. Turn on Screen time breaks too, which nudge you to stop after a set stretch of scrolling.

If you're under 18, TikTok already sets a 60-minute daily limit by default, but you can type in a passcode and keep going. That's why it doesn't do much on its own.

Make it harder to skip

If TikTok isn't the only problem, the same idea works elsewhere: see how to take a break from Instagram without deactivating and how to turn off YouTube Shorts on PC.

Turn your TikTok watch time into a score you can actually move

You know how to check watch time on TikTok now. In the next minute, Brainrot Test turns that vague "I scroll too much" feeling into a brainrot score from 0 to 100. After that, a two-minute drill each day ends with one real-world phone action on a timer, and each drill you finish takes a point off. Your score gets measured again every Sunday, so you can see if it's working.

FAQ

How do I see my total watch time on TikTok?

Go to Profile → ☰ → Settings and privacy → Time and wellbeing → Screen time dashboard. It shows daily and weekly totals. TikTok doesn't show a lifetime total, so multiply your weekly number by 52 for a rough yearly figure.

How do I check recently watched videos on TikTok?

Open Settings and privacy → Activity center → Watch history. If it's not there, update the app, and check your Liked and Favorites tabs, which is where a lot of "lost" videos turn up.

Why is my TikTok screen time different from my iPhone Screen Time?

They measure slightly differently, and TikTok's dashboard may count only active watching. Your phone's Screen Time counts every second the app is open. Trust the higher one when you're setting a limit.

How many hours on TikTok a day is too much?

There's no official number. A practical test: if TikTok is taking time you'd planned for sleep, schoolwork, work or seeing people, it's too much for you. Check your day vs night split in the dashboard to see where it's hitting.

Can I set a time limit on TikTok that I can't skip?

Not completely, since TikTok's own limit can be bypassed with your passcode. It gets much harder to skip if you use your phone's App Limits and let someone else hold the Screen Time passcode.
